French real estate agencies are increasingly focusing on the national market, with retirees being a significant demographic for both buying and renting properties.
A survey by Jornal de Notícias indicates that over three dozen French companies are now active in the Portuguese real estate sector. These companies have reported increased revenues since the pandemic, with Nestenn and Barnes being examples.
These agencies report growing interest in properties for permanent residence, rental, and second homes in Portugal, particularly from retirees, digital nomads, and French families. They also note that Porto is currently seen as more appealing than Lisbon for French retirees and investors due to lower prices.
